There are many advantages to slinging or wearing your baby. As babies get curious about the world, they enjoy the view from up high. A happy baby is more likely to lead to a happy mama. Baby stays close to you where she wants to be, while you are able to move through your day. Having baby up high also means baby is safely off the floor while your attention is elsewhere. You can complete your chores, breastfeed hands-free, play with your toddler while keeping baby close. You can even exercise or walk while your baby is sleeping, and you won’t need to carry that cumbersome stroller with you. When you do use the stroller, you may find that it ends up full of everyone’s coats and bags rather than your baby. Most babies will enjoy being in the carrier immediately, but some may take a day or two to adjust and become comfortable. Give your baby time to adjust without pressure. If your baby isn’t comfortable, listen and check that you are using the baby carrier as recommended. If a particular style doesn’t work well for you, don’t give up. Many mothers have invented many styles to fit a variety of needs. Try again until you find a good fit.
